For universities
Event ticketing and facility booking for universities in Malaysia
GateTic runs both sides of campus life on one platform: ticketed events for student societies, unions and faculties, and hourly booking for the courts, halls and studios those events happen in. Student, staff, alumni and public rates are priced separately, and Malaysian public holidays are built into the booking calendar.
What campus teams use it for
Ticketed campus events
Concerts, balls, workshops, sports days and conferences. Multiple ticket types per event, guest checkout for attendees without an account, and a QR ticket that is scanned at the door. Ticket sales can be embedded on a society's own page.
Court, hall and studio booking
Buildings, floors, facilities and individual units, each with its own opening hours, peak and off-peak bands, and capacity. Units can be booked exclusively — one court, one booking — or shared as a pax pool for a gym or studio class.
Student, staff, alumni and public rates
A separate price per role on the same facility and time band, so a student rate, a staff rate and a public rate can coexist — including a surcharge for guests a member brings along. Tax rates are configured per branch.
When booking opens to a rush
Facility booking can be put behind a waiting room that admits students in the order they arrived, instead of letting the whole campus refresh the same page at midnight. Event ticket sales run on timed windows with per-person purchase limits.
Timetables, classes and closures
Recurring schedules block out training sessions and classes, one-off exceptions handle the weeks they don't run, and whole-facility blocks cover maintenance and exam periods. Public holidays follow the national and state calendars, with per-branch overrides.
Staff access and reporting
Facility staff get only the modules their group allows — scanner, booking management, schedules, reports — scoped to their branch. Attendance is logged at check-in and check-out, and venue revenue is reconciled through withdrawal reports.
Common questions
- Can student societies run their own events, or does everything go through the university?
- Each society or faculty can be set up as its own organiser with its own events, ticket types and crew, while the institution keeps oversight. Staff permissions are granted per module and per branch, so a society committee sees only its own events.
- Does it handle facility booking as well as ticketed events?
- Yes — both run on the same platform. Courts, halls, studios and other units are booked by the hour against their own opening hours, while ticketed events like concerts and workshops are sold separately. A venue team manages both from one dashboard.
- Can we charge students, staff, alumni and the public different prices?
- Yes. Pricing is set per role against each facility and time band, so the same court can carry a student rate, a staff rate, an alumni rate and a public rate at once — plus a separate rate for guests a member brings with them.
- Does it know about Malaysian public holidays?
- Yes. National and state holidays are built in and applied to the branch by its state, and a Public Holiday day type can carry its own opening hours and prices. Individual dates can be overridden per branch when a campus opens or closes against the national calendar.
- How do people check in on the day?
- Every ticket and booking carries a QR code that staff scan from a phone. Check-in and check-out are logged, so attendance and no-shows are recorded rather than estimated.
- What happens when semester facility bookings open and everyone arrives at once?
- Facility booking can be placed behind a waiting room that opens ahead of the release and admits students in the order they arrived, rather than having the whole campus hit the booking page in the same second.
